This year, we at K4K will be hosting Baby It’s Warm Inside, a Silent Auction Gala that will be held at the Atwater Club on December 10th from 5pm to 7pm where all proceeds will go to granting the wishes of children with life threatening illnesses at the Children's Wish Foundation. Baby It's Warm Inside... Poster

As my previous blog post stated, the K4K event changed from a Winter Wonderland carnival for children to a Silent Auction gala for adults. Again, since I have a background in graphic arts, I was assigned to create a new design for the posters, tickets and thank you cards.

Since Baby It's Warm Inside has a holiday feel, I decided to use a redish background with white snowflakes. I played with two different fonts: Edwardian Script for the title and event description, Helvetica for the the time/place/price. To me, it exudes warmness. It is inviting and I hope that our guests will think the same and come to the event.

So, again, I want to invite you to Baby It's Warm Inside's Silent Auction gala in a 5@7 form. See you at 5PM at the Atwater Club on December 10, 2011!!!

K4K: Baby It's Warm Inside...

Small change!!!!! The K4K foundraiser event is now targeting adults (30-60 year olds), as well as companies. The new event will be in the form of a 5@7 Silent Auction gala instead of a Winter Wonderland carnival.

K4K (kare for kids) is a group of young adults who want to take action and make a difference however we are unable to do so without the guests' kindness. Not only will it provide them (companies) with the personal satisfaction of making a difference this holiday season, but it will allow their customers to feel more confident and have a positive affiliation to their brand based on their contributions to their local community.

During the event, various products will be auctioned: Canada Goose jacket, concert tickets, Disney on ice tickets, restaurants gift certificates, purses, spa gift cards and packages, jewelery, and much much more.

Please join us at K4K's Baby It's Warm Inside... Friday December 10 at 5PM!

K4K Advertising

As my previous blog post stated, my Event Planning class and I are planning a fundraiser for the children at Make a Wish Foundation. Since I have a background in graphic arts, I was assigned to create a logo for our event, as well as a poster and tickets.

For the logo, I really wanted to incorporate kids, as well as the name (K4K). I wanted the logo to be simple, straightforward and to the point, and still have an impact on the people that come across it. The idea I came up with incorporates all that! I think :P As for the poster and the tickets, the theme for our event is : Winter Wonderland Carnival. I did not want it to look to messy and over-the-top, so I used just one image (the background) and played with different fonts. The text on the poster gives brief information on the event (what? where? when? why? who?). Here is what I came up with! Tell me what you think...

K4K

I am excited to present my Event Planning class's new project: K4K (kids for kids)!

We are still in the brainstorming part of the event, but here is what we know so far:
  • What? Fundraisor for the children's Make a Wish Foundation
  • Everyday families will be attending to raise money and then donate it to the kids from the Make a Wish Foundation (or we can grant a kids wish at the event)
  • When? December 9, 2010
The main idea is to bring joy to children who deeply need something to smile about, especially during that time a year. Christmas time is the season of giving, so let's give back! We mainly want other children to help the Make a Wish kids. We feel it is good for children to be aware that there are people their age who are less fortunate than they are. Of course, parents will be invited as well. Since the event's activities will be more for the children, we want to find a fun way to include grown-ups. I remembered a scene in The Santa Claus 2 that I found would be a great inspiration for this event. Let me know what you think!

Here is the link to the video (start it at about 6min.):

Lanvin for H&M 2

OMG is what I keep telling myself after watching H&M's video campaign for their collaboration with Lanvin. WOW! It is simply amazing!

The line is gorgeous! A lot of fun, flirty and sexy dresses for both young and older women. They even play with the various ages by putting the same dress on a 20 year-old and on a 80 year-old. As promised, Lanvin's dresses have his signature ruffles and flattering, feminine silhouettes. The color palette is mostly made up of black, red, bright pink, yellow and a variety of bold prints (floral, zebra, leopard). Some 45 looks include: faux fur vests, draped asymmetrical dresses, ankle wrap heels and flouncy skirts. Lanvin's H&M line looks a lot like his Spring-Summer 2010 collection. So women worldwide can get the runway look without paying thousands of dollars!

The video itself is great! Absurd, a tad eerie, but oh so fabulous, the video definitely shows Lanvin's personality. In a crazy hotel, women go crazy for Lanvin's newest clothes. French words are being tossed in air bubbles, a woman takes a shower fully dressed, another is walking on a treadmill... In general, the video is pretty creepy, but I love it! It's fierce!!!

Here's the video! Hope you guys like it! BTW the line comes out November 23!!!

Halloween 2010: Lady Gaga

Halloween is here and 2010 costumes are even better than last year’s. This season’s trendiest costumes range from music stars, politicians and the always-popular comic book heroes. But 2010’s most popular Halloween costume is of Lady Gaga.

When it comes to fashion, Lady Gaga is a visionary ahead of her time. In just two years, she’s had more scandals and outrageous outfits than most of the music stars have had in their entire careers. Since her debut single Just Dance in 2008, Lady Gaga has put out hit after hit, as well as sexy and futuristic fashion trends. It doesn’t come as a surprise that her outfits would be 2010’s most original Halloween costumes.

Here are a couple of tips to achieve a great Lady Gaga outfit: Check out her music videos and get inspired; get a bleach blonde wig and a lot of makeup. You can also find Lady Gaga costumes in Halloween stores. Some of the outfits include: the Pokerface blue one piece; the Telephone American flag outfit; the silver glitter ball mini dress she wore at in one of her shows; the red masked lace outfit she wore at the 2009 MTV VMA’s.

Have fun creating your own Lady Gaga costume and have a great Halloween!

Lanvin for H&M

I am delighted to announce that Lanvin will be the next designer to collaborate with H&M! Lanvin is definitely one of the most influential fashion brands of this century. Designed by both Alber Elbaz and Lucas Ossendrijver, the collection (women and men wear) will be in worldwide stores on November 23. Other great fashion houses that collaborated with H&M count Karl Lagerfeld and Stella McCartney.

Both brands wanted to focus more on H&M becoming glamorous rather then Lanvin going public. Lanvin will definetly bring a modern and French luxurious style to H&M. You can definitely see the designer’s style in this collection. Such pieces will include Lanvin’s signature looks: asymmetric necklines; ruffles; flattering and feminine silhouettes; nice cuts and tailoring.

I am so excited for this collection. Lanvin’s look with H&M’s price tag, what more can we ask!?

Stay tuned for a special film that reveals this collection. The film will be launched on November 2, 2010. Can’t wait!

Balmain: Fall 2010

Christophe Decarnin, Balmain’s designer, does it again! Bringing us sexy mini dresses and military glam, Balmain’s Fall 2010 collection is inspired by Baroque and rock ‘n’ roll. It also seems to be inspired by Prince’s Purple Rain, with rocking accessories and warm colors, such as gold and purple.

His sexy collection focuses, yet again, on strong shoulders, short hems and slim silhouettes. A mix of metallic, sheer and great strong colors (black, gold, violet, red) create a bold and rich look. His signature pieces include: floor length dresses with plunging necklines and thigh high slits; sheer bow blouses; frock coats; short and paillette-smothered dresses; big shoulders; long-in-back and short-in-front lame gowns.

I love Balmain’s Fall 2010 collection! I think this season’s collection is classier and dressier than Decarnin’s Summer collection. I feel that when women wear these pieces, they shall definitely exude sex appeal and confidence.

Here are a couple of looks from Balmain’s Fall 2010 collection. Enjoy!

Emporio Armani: Megan Fox

As an Emporio Armani fan, I was ecstatic to hear that Megan Fox would be their new face (and body) for the year 2010. Megan Fox is the definition of beauty and sensuality, a perfect mix for the new spokesmodel for Emporio Armani Underwear. "Megan is young and sexy and has a lot of spirit. Both Emporio Armani Underwear and Armani Jeans are all about a youthful attitude, making her the perfect choice for the collections."

Shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott in Los Angeles, the Emporio Armani Underwear photos show the hot young actress in matching lace and stripped underwear sets. In a black in white finished look, the images are very sexy, but not trashy. Megan Fox looks great, as usual. “The advertising campaigns are being shown all around the world in fashion and lifestyle magazines and on signature billboards in major cities, such as New York, Los Angeles, London, Milan, Rome, Paris and Tokyo.”

Here are pictures from the ad campaign!

Camel

Camel is the newest color trend for this Fall-Winter 2010-2011 season. After being featured in the most fashion presentations, camel seems to be the “new black”. The color radiates warmth, elegance and simplicity. It suits any color tone and can be matched with various other colors and styles.

Here are some of the best must have camel fashion items for this season: trousers (stylish and comfortable); dress or skirts (simple or embellished, short or long); knits (simple solution, oversized sweater); trench coats (always a winning look). To get the perfect camel look, layer your camel item with denim and add caramel accessories like cute heels
or a big bag.

A fashion house that nails the camel look is ChloƩ. Most of their Fall-Winter 2010-2011 collection is inspired by the new color. Mostly handbags and shoes, ChloƩ also applies the fabulous color to pants, dresses, skirts, jackets and coats.

Here are some examples of how you can wear Camel!

Marc Jacobs: Bang

After a decade, Marc Jacobs is finally releasing a new men’s fragrance: Bang. His fragrance is said to be elegant and sensual with a woody, peppery and spicy sent. The bottle design is also very elegant, daring and artistic. When you hold it in your hand, it is very masculine and powerful. The industrial shine and crumpled look ads a modern edge to the bottle. “Clever, ironic, cool, the bottle is the essence of Marc Jacobs.”

Jacobs wanted this sent to fully represent himself, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that he is the model for the fragrance’s ad campaign. Posing nude on a silver Mylar bed with a giant bottle of the fragrance hiding his genitals, Marc Jacobs takes pleasure in the photoshoot (photographer: Juergen Teller). The end result of the ad campaign is great, very in your face. Since the campaign is pretty risky, Jacobs had three different ads made to better suit all of his customers: the original; Jacobs cropped at his shoulders, holding the bottle near his face; just the bottle.

Add “Bang You’re It “on Facebook and “Bang” yourself!

Dolce & Gabbana: Madonna

Madonna is the newest face (and body) of Dolce & Gabbana. She participated in the designer’s Fall-Winter 2010-2011 ad campaigns, which is inspired by the Italian Neorealism cinema (“a style of film characterized by stories set amongst the poor and working class, filmed on location, frequently using nonprofessional actors”). Photographed by Steven Klein in New York City, Madonna portrays a domestic housewife doing dishes, preparing food, going to the market, etc.

The designers were thrilled when Madonna accepted to participate in the campaign. They claim that “Madonna is the light at the center of the family axis, she is the story, the point of gravity to which all other members attract. She is cajoled, protected, glorified, her sun-touched hair piercing through the black and white background. An incredible way to swift through a tale and start thinking of winter with a sense of warmth.”

Madonna looks amazing in these shots and after viewing the fashion show’s short video,
she looks like she had a blast.

I hope you enjoy it too!

Chanel: Fall-Winter 2010-2011 Fashion Show

Karl Lagerfeld is known to present Chanel’s newest collections in monumental and memorable fashion shows.
The Fall-Winter 2010-2011 isn’t  an exception to this tradition. The theme for this collection is the “global cooling”
and the effects it has on the planet. Lagerfeld designed the runway as a real life iceberg, made of real ice and snow.
As the fashion show went on, the ice started to melt and the models strutted their stuff on a wet surface, splashing water onto the audience.

The collection’s line is very couture, but not too over-the-top. With a mix of Native American flare and a classic 1930’s style, there is an amazing amount of fur, although it is all fake. “It’s so good now, technical advancers are so perfect you can hardly tell fake fur from the real thing. Fake is not chic, but fake fur is.”, Karl Lagerfeld states during an interview with The Telegraph. The collection also uses a lot of tweed, capes, bonnets, coats and a great color pallet (brown, red, black, cream, grey, white, powder blue).

Yet again, Karl Lagerfeld makes Coco Chanel proud with a gorgeous and original collection.

Enjoy the show!
